Bile acid sequestrants (BAS) are a class of medications used to treat hyperlipidemia, a condition characterized by high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. BAS work by binding to bile acids in the intestine and preventing them from being reabsorbed into the bloodstream. This causes the liver to produce more bile acids from cholesterol, which lowers cholesterol levels in the blood.

Osmotic diuretics are a type of medication that can be used to manage cerebral edema.  Cerebral edema is a condition where an excess of cerebral water accumulates due to primary neurological or non-neurological causes. This excess fluid can cause additional injury often in excess of the original neurological insult. MOA Osmotic diuretics work by increasing the osmolality of the blood.
